Dri-Eaz Press Release

Dri-Eaz and GE Protimeter form an Alliance
Customers, Sales Partners and special guests brave the cold

Burlington, WA - May 12 - Company officials at Dri-Eaz Products announced this week that after months of intensive research and evaluation, they will form a strategic alliance with GE Protimeter. GE Protimeter is apart of the Industrial Systems Measurement and Sensing Technologies Group, a division of General Electric. John Ormsby, Marketing Manager said, "We were looking for an established manufacturer who shares Dri-Eaz's commitment to quality and innovation. GE Protimeter's technology, versatility, and potential for collaborative product development, makes them the clear choice." As of May, Dri-Eaz will offer the GE Protimeter line of moisture detection instruments.

The industry needs specialized instruments
Ormsby says reliance on moisture measurement instruments has grown in recent years, due to the growing preference for science-based drying methods. And as the profession evolves, so does the need for specialized instruments. "Most of the meters used in the industry today were not specifically designed for use in water damage restoration. By combining the expertise and resources of our two companies, we hope to see that change. Our customers do important work and they deserve access to the best instruments available," explained Ormsby.

Innovation opportunities abound
Chris Ranwell, GE Protimeter Sales Manager, mirrored John Ormsby's thoughts and enthusiasm about the new partnership. "This is such a great opportunity. With Dri-Eaz's technical knowledge in the restoration field, and our expertise in moisture measurement instruments, we can establish ourselves as the premier instrument supplier." Ranwell also said that GE recently acquired a number of measurement and sensing companies that will bring new technology to their already extensive research and development efforts. "GE has a commitment to innovation. The possibilities are exciting."

The first meters to be available though Dri-Eaz distributors will be the Surveymaster (SM), the Moisture Measure System Plus (MMS Plus), and the hammer probe. The MMS Plus offers 3 instruments in one. It's both a pin-type and non-invasive meter, and a thermo-hygrometer with data logging software. It's a great overall value. Ormsby says that while the move to GE Protimeter today provides distributors and customers more shopping convenience, it's really what their collaborative efforts can provide tomorrow that's exciting.
