Dri-Eaz Press Release

Dri-Eaz University expands instructor team
New talent brings diverse expertise to industry's leading education program

Burlington, WASHINGTON - April 5, 2004 - With the addition of five new instructors, Dri-Eaz University adds even more restoration and business management expertise to its education program. Already the industry's most highly trained education staff, the Dri-Eaz University team collectively brings more than 100 years of experience in restoration, business, and education to a variety of course offerings.

"Our new educators offer years of real-life restoration, scientific, technical, and business experience to an already top notch staff," said Jim Myers, education manager at Dri-Eaz. "They're passionate about supporting the Dri-Eaz University vision - to provide the highest level of restorative drying business education in a professional, valuing, and respectful environment. We're excited to welcome them to the team."

The new instructors offer diverse backgrounds in all aspects of water damage restoration, including both technical and management sides of the business. They join a team of 8 highly trained educators for Dri-Eaz University - each with experience in the restoration business ranging from 8 to more than 30 years.

  • New Water Damage Restoration (WRT) instructor Cara Agerbeck has been an IICRC Master Textile Cleaner, Master Fire and Smoke Restorer, and Master Restoration Technician. She has 10 years of restoration experience, holds a Master's in Business Administration, and currently serves as business manager for Mayhem & Mishaps, Inc.
  • Before joining the Dri-Eaz Nashville staff, Kevin Fisher served as lead instructor in cleaning and restoration with another organization, where he had the opportunity to teach hundreds of water damage restoration classes and complete dozens of restoration jobs. Fisher holds a Master's degree in education and was an award-winning science teacher before moving into restoration.
  • Nigel Hewitt will help lead the education effort for Dri-Eaz in the UK. Hewitt successfully grew his family janitorial business by adding restoration services and through forging relationships with insurance adjusters. Hewitt will teach Applied Structural Drying (ASD) and WRT.
  • David Loveridge started a one-man, one-van cleaning and restoration franchise nearly 10 years ago - and today operates one the largest operations in his region. Loveridge has earned numerous awards for franchise performance and holds several IICRC certifications. He is located in Ottawa, Canada and will teach WRT courses.
  • Ken Miller worked as a restoration technician for 6 years before joining Dri-Eaz as an internal trainer in 2003. His new responsibilities at Dri-Eaz University in Burlington include maintaining the flood house and working with students to answer technical questions about the science of drying.
Since Claude Blackburn founded Dri-Eaz in 1980, the company has dedicated itself to the education and growth of the restorative drying professional. After providing on-site training at distributor locations for many years, Dri-Eaz built the Center for Advanced Restorative Drying at its Burlington, Wash. headquarters in 1999. Today Dri-Eaz operates education facilities in both Burlington and Nashville, Tenn., with a new facility opening soon in the UK.

In addition to ASD and WRT certification courses, Dri-Eaz offers classes in advanced drying techniques, mold remediation, photo inventory pack-out, and understanding the IICRC mold guidelines (S-520). Recently renamed Dri-Eaz University, the company's education program will continue to expand to comprehensively address the business needs of restorers.

In 2003 alone, Dri-Eaz helped more than 4,000 restoration professionals improve their business and technical skills. In an effort to build relationships with the insurance industry on behalf of all restorers, Dri-Eaz provides up to 50 scholarships to insurance professionals each year.

"Our education program was founded on the key truth that equipment doesn't dry buildings, people do," Myers said. "Dri-Eaz University focuses on teaching the science of drying and the skills necessary to succeed in the restorative drying business."
