New Dri-Eaz air scrubber breaks the clean air barrier
DefendAirŽ HEPA 500 delivers true HEPA filtration—plus AHAM's clean air rating
BURLINGTON, Washington - Oct. 1, 2004 - The new DefendAirŽ HEPA 500 air scrubber from Dri-Eaz delivers true, tested High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration of 99.97% at 500 CFM - the typical airflow level demanded on restoration jobs.
Dri-Eaz' new HEPA 500 also offers the assurance of the maximum Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), an official standard set by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM). Not only does the DefendAir HEPA 500 break performance barriers, but it also includes a range of unique new features designed to inspire user confidence and offer maximum versatility.
"Our goal with the DefendAir HEPA 500 is to offer restorers the ultimate air scrubber for on-the-job performance, versatility, and confidence," said John Ormsby, Director of Customer Relations at Dri-Eaz. "The HEPA 500 combines true, tested particulate removal with innovative features - such as daisy chain capability, stackable operation, and MICROBANŽ antimicrobial product protection - to make it ideal for any restoration job."
HEPA, CADR & Performance
The DefendAir HEPA 500 is the first and only air scrubber in the market designed to deliver the highest CADR - and achieve 99.97% true HEPA efficiency at 500 CFM. AHAM's Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) has been used in other markets for years. A measure of the actual volume of cleaner air delivered per minute, CADR factors in how the filtration system and the entire machine work together, at the airflow rate being used.
"CADR is the ideal measurement for air scrubbers in the restoration industry because it tells you how much cleaner the air really is," said Ormsby. "It's not just the type of filter or the CFM - which don't tell you the whole story - but it's how the entire machine works together to perform. High CADR means you can feel confident about how thoroughly you're removing particles."
The DefendAir HEPA 500 is the first air scrubber in the industry to offer true, tested HEPA filtration of 99.97% efficiency against 0.3-micron oily aerosol particles when operated at airflows up to 500 CFM. Manufacturers can test filters at a slower airflow rate in order to qualify as HEPA. But if testing doesn't occur at the airflow rate at which it will be used, the filter may not provide true HEPA filtration at that rate.
User Confidence & Versatility
In addition to its performance achievements, the DefendAir HEPA 500 delivers a range of unique, new features designed to inspire user confidence make it highly functional.
- MICROBANŽ antimicrobial product protection, built into the unit's rugged rotomolded housing during the manufacturing process, adds a layer of continuous product protection against microbes that can cause stains, odors, and product degradation.
- Daisy chain capability allows the user to efficiently link up to three units together - for delivering up to 1500 CFM of true HEPA filtration while using only one power outlet.
- Modular versatility means the user can adapt as needed - stack up to three units in a doorway, or spread them out around a structure to maximize coverage.
- Compact, lightweight design and a balanced handle make the HEPA 500 easy for one person to load, unload, carry up stairs, and maneuver.
- The multi-positional HEPA 500 can be stacked vertically or laid flat for operation, or can be stacked horizontally for space-saving storage.
- Sealable intake allows the user to secure the intake with a tethered cap, and inhibit cross contamination when moving on and off the job.
The HEPA 500 also features advanced, high quality filter media from 3M; multi-stage filtration; easy filter access; low amp draw; and a built-in ring for easy ducting. As with all Dri-Eaz equipment, the HEPA 500 is UL and C-UL listed for safety, reliability, and peace of mind.
